Duterte willing to join Robredo in vaccine infomercial

President Rodrigo Duterte is willing to join Vice President Leni Robredo in an infomercial to encourage Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Senator Joel Villanueva initially proposed the joint infomercial to boost vaccine confidence and counter fake news.

Senator Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara also supported the idea, stating that the President and Vice President have their respective supporters who could be influenced.

Both Duterte and Robredo have already been vaccinated, serving as living proof of vaccine safety.

Vice President Robredo is open to the idea if it helps gain the trust of Filipinos in vaccination.

This initiative aims to address concerns about the Department of Health's policy of informing recipients of the vaccine brand just before inoculation.

Senator Villanueva stressed the importance of vaccine advocacy alongside vaccine availability, stating that "vaccine agnosticism will not work without vaccine advocacy."
