Garin officially sworn in as DOE secretary by PBBM

Sharon Garin has officially been sworn in as the Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Garin, formerly the DOE's officer-in-charge since May 2025, officially replaced Raphael Lotilla.

Prior to becoming OIC, she served as DOE undersecretary beginning in 2022 and was a lawmaker representing the AAMBIS-Owa Partylist from 2010 to 2022.

She also held leadership positions in the House of Representatives, including deputy speaker and chair of the Committee on Economic Affairs.

President Marcos expressed confidence in her "experience in lawmaking and shaping energy policy" to achieve the goal of providing Filipinos with more reliable, affordable, and clean energy under the Bagong Pilipinas initiative.

Garin expressed her commitment to continuing the reform initiatives of her predecessor, including the Green Energy Auction program.

The department will focus on accelerating renewable energy development, expanding electrification, enhancing energy resiliency, and improving the investment climate.
