Scottie Thompson's late triple lifts Ginebra past Rain or Shine, into PBA quarters

Scottie Thompson's late-game heroics fueled Barangay Ginebra's 102-100 escape against Rain or Shine in Bahrain, securing their quarterfinal berth in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Ginebra mounted a comeback from a 79-65 deficit early in the fourth quarter, with Troy Rosario's basket narrowing the gap to 98-95 with 1:02 remaining.

RJ Abarrientos tied the game with a three-point play before Adrian Nocum put the Elasto Painters back in front.

Thompson then hit a go-ahead triple to give Ginebra a 101-100 lead, and after Nocum missed his next attempt, Thompson split his free throws to seal the victory.

Thompson finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Abarrientos led Rain or Shine with 25 points.

The win improved Barangay Ginebra's record to 6-4, while Rain or Shine, already assured of a twice-to-beat advantage, dropped to second place at 8-3.
