San Juan converts Science High School into quarantine facility

San Juan City is transforming its new Science High School into a 100-bed overflow quarantine facility for persons under investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19.

This new facility will also function as a staging area for PUIs before they are admitted to the San Juan Medical Center (SJMC) if their tests confirm they have the virus.

The initiative is a collaboration between the San Juan City government and Xavier School's Alumni Association through the 'Kalinga Kontra Korona' program, with Xavier School supplying medical equipment, medicines, supplies, and healthcare workers.

Xavier School will also ensure the provision of food, water, and other necessities for the personnel working at the quarantine site.

The Science High School building was selected due to its strategic location and close proximity to the San Juan Medical Center.

The facility will be managed by the San Juan Medical Center and the city health office.

As of Thursday, San Juan has reported a total of 44 confirmed COVID-19 cases, while the Philippines has 707 confirmed cases, 45 deaths, and 28 recoveries.
