QC opens second temporary quarantine facility Hope II

The Quezon City government is set to open its second temporary quarantine facility, Hope II, on March 31, 2020, to house persons under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 who cannot self-quarantine at home.

Located at the Quezon City University (QCU) Complex in Novaliches, Hope II will have a capacity of 168 beds.

Mayor Joy Belmonte stated that the facility aims to control the spread of the virus, especially after the Department of Health (DOH) allowed mild symptomatic patients to self-isolate at home.

Patients in Hope II will receive meals, a private space, hygiene kits, medication, and medical professional attention.

The establishment of Hope II will also help preserve hospital beds for critical patients and reduce exposure risks for healthcare workers and the general public.

Quezon City had previously opened Hope I, an alternative medical facility with 49 rooms, which as of March 29 had admitted 10 COVID-19 positive patients and 24 PUIs.
