TD Salome weakens to LPA, expected to dissipate in 24 hours

Tropical Depression Salome has been downgraded to a low pressure area (LPA) due to cold and dry air from the northeasterly windflow.

The LPA is expected to continue moving southwestward and may dissipate within the next 24 hours.

All tropical cyclone wind signals have been lifted as the weather system is no longer expected to bring significant heavy rainfall.

However, the LPA will still bring cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate rains and thunderstorms to Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands.

Similar weather conditions are also expected in Bicol, Quezon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar due to the easterlies.

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will cause similar weather conditions in Palawan, the Negros Island Region, Iloilo, Guimaras, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Sultan Kudarat.
