LPA near Zamboanga has low chance of becoming tropical depression

As of Monday morning, a low pressure area (LPA) near Zamboanga City has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the next 24 hours.

The LPA was last spotted 260 kilometers north northwest of Zamboanga City.

This weather system is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which is affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

It is expected to cross the Sulu Sea and Palawan, moving over the West Philippine Sea by Monday evening.

PAGASA may declare the onset of the Amihan season by midweek or the weekend if the Northeast Monsoon reaches Batanes, which may experience light rains and gusty conditions.

Mainland Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON will expect intense thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening throughout the week due to the humid easterlies.

Metro Manila may experience rain showers or thunderstorms, especially from Wednesday onwards.
