LPA embedded along ITCZ brings rains in Palawan, other PH areas

A low-pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is causing rain in various parts of the Philippines, particularly in Palawan.

The LPA was last observed near Dumaran, Palawan, moving east southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

PAGASA stated that the LPA has a low probability of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

It is expected to bring scattered rain and thunderstorms to Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Palawan is anticipated to experience moderate to heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours.

The ITCZ may also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the rest of Mindanao, as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the easterlies.

Additionally, Batanes is facing moderate to heavy rain due to the Northeast Monsoon, while Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora will experience similar conditions due to the shear line.

PAGASA warned that these weather conditions may trigger flash floods and landslides.
