Rookie Bella Belen faces tough PVL debut against PLDT

Rookie Bella Belen experienced a reality check in her official PVL debut, where Capital1 lost to powerhouse PLDT High Speed Hitters.

Despite the loss, Belen, the first overall pick, acknowledged the need for major adjustments in her attacking style, anticipating that opposing teams will scout and limit her production.

This was Belen's second game in the PVL, following a previous match against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans that was replayed due to import clearance issues.

Against PLDT, known for its strong blocking, Belen scored 13 points, all from attacks, but struggled to penetrate their net defense, which recorded 16 blocks compared to Capital1's 4.

Belen recognized that she adjusted her playing style late against PLDT's frontline and aims to improve her ability to read opponents before games.

She expressed the need to elevate her level of play as the season progresses, understanding the challenges of the PVL where all teams extensively scout opponents.
