Choco Mucho defeats Capital1 in straight sets in PVL opener

Choco Mucho Flying Titans defeated Capital1 Solar Spikers in three straight sets, 33-31, 26-24, 25-23, in their opening game of the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.

The win marked a successful return for key players Kat Tolentino, who scored 15 points, and Maddie Madayag, who contributed crucial blocks.

Choco Mucho spoiled the PVL debut of top pick Bella Belen, who nonetheless impressed with a triple-double of 20 points, 18 excellent digs, and 12 excellent receptions.

Both teams played without their imports due to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) failing to release the necessary International Transfer Certificates (ITCs) in time.

Fil-American setter Tia Andaya was also unable to play because of the ITC impasse.

Choco Mucho overcame a third-set deficit, with Madayag drilling back-to-back blocks to seal the victory.

Isa Molde added 14 points for Choco Mucho, while Lorraine Pecana had eight points, Des Cheng had seven points and 11 excellent receptions, and Deanna Wong had 22 excellent sets.
