Romualdez warns against misuse of public funds

During the opening of the 2025 General Appropriations Bill plenary deliberations, Romualdez stressed the responsibility of legislators as guardians of public funds and stewards of the people's trust.

He highlighted that every peso allocated in the budget represents the hard work of Filipinos and must be spent wisely, effectively, and with accountability.

Romualdez directly addressed critics who preach accountability while allegedly disregarding their own misuse of public funds, warning that such hypocrisy will not be tolerated by the House.

This statement is seen as a swipe at Vice President Sara Duterte, following criticisms from Romualdez's allies regarding her past confidential expenses.

House Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe had previously warned Duterte of potential criminal liability for disallowed confidential funds if she fails to provide an explanation.
