Manila LGU says ready for influx of people attending 'National Rally for Peace'
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the City of Manila are preparing for the Iglesia ni Cristo's (INC) National Rally for Peace on Monday, January 13, with multiple road closures around the Quirino Grandstand.
Affected roads include Katigbak Drive, South Drive, Independence Road, portions of Roxas Boulevard and Bonifacio Drive, P. Burgos Avenue, Ma. Orosa Street, Finance Road, Gen. Luna Roundtable, and Kalaw Avenue.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes, with specific re-routing instructions provided for various directions and vehicle types.
The MMDA previously estimated up to 1 million attendees for the event.
MMDA chairperson Atty. Romando Artes stated that only one lane will be allowed for parking, and unattended vehicles will be towed.
A portion of Mindanao Avenue to Tandang Sora will be closed by the DOTr from Sunday midnight until 2028 for subway works.
The religious group announced on December 4 that they would hold the rally to express support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s stance against impeachment moves.
