INC rally causes heavy traffic in Quiapo

Heavy traffic congestion was reported in Quiapo, Manila on Monday morning due to a peace rally organized by Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at the Quirino Grandstand.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) noted parked vehicles belonging to rally participants contributed significantly to the traffic buildup in the Quiapo area.

Several roads in the vicinity were closed to traffic starting from 4 a.m. on Monday to accommodate the event.

As of 10 a.m., the Philippine National Police (PNP) estimated approximately 1.5 million people were gathered at the Quirino Grandstand for the INC rally.

The INC has expressed its apologies for the inconvenience caused to motorists but emphasized that the mass gathering aims to promote peace and unity among all Filipinos.

MMDA chairman Don Artes actively monitored the road situation in Metro Manila, focusing on areas affected by the rally in Manila and Pasay.

Despite the traffic, the MMDA stated that no untoward incidents or problems had been reported and traffic flow remained light in other areas.
