Rain or Shine clinches quarterfinals berth, avoids do-or-die playoff

Rain or Shine secured a quarterfinals berth in the PBA Commissioner's Cup by defeating TNT with a score of 106-96, landing them the sixth seed.

This victory allowed the Elasto Painters to avoid a do-or-die playoff for the eighth spot against Magnolia.

Rain or Shine, coached by Yeng Guiao, will now compete against Converge, the third-ranked team, in a best-of-three series in the quarterfinals.

Coach Guiao considers his team the underdogs against Converge, which has recently become a strong team with the addition of Justine Baltazar and Jordan Heading, along with a fitting reinforcement in Cheick Diallo.

Guiao expressed that their win against TNT was their most crucial of the conference, emphasizing their determination to achieve their seventh victory.

The team had previously experienced consecutive losses against Barangay Ginebra and NLEX before securing this pivotal win against TNT.

Guiao instructed his players to give their maximum effort in the game against TNT to bypass a knockout match.

Meanwhile, TNT is set to face Eastern for a semifinals slot, holding a twice-to-beat advantage in their upcoming series.
