PNP warns of burglaries amid holiday vacations

The Philippine National Police (PNP) warned the public to be vigilant against burglaries, particularly "akyat bahay" incidents, as many Filipinos go on vacation during the Christmas season.

PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo highlighted that house break-ins are common during vacation periods.

Fajardo advised citizens to ensure their homes and establishments are secured before leaving for vacation.

Approximately 37,000 police officers have been deployed nationwide to maintain peace and order during the holiday season.

The public is cautioned against posting real-time updates on social media about their absence from home to avoid becoming targets for robbers.

Motorists were reminded to check their vehicles and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.

Passengers of public transportation were advised to be mindful of their belongings and protect themselves from pickpockets and robbers.
