The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to begin its vaccination drive on Monday using AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, prioritizing healthcare workers with comorbidities in the National Capital Region.
The PNP has secured 700 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, with 350 doses intended for initial vaccination and the remaining 350 for boosters.
This supply is enough for 350 personnel as each individual requires two doses.
Priority will be given to remaining healthcare workers and non-medical staff in PNP hospitals and isolation facilities within Metro Manila due to the limited initial supply.
Additionally, the PNP has secured 1,200 Sinovac booster doses for the 1,196 PNP healthcare workers who received their first Sinovac dose from March 1 to 7.
These Sinovac recipients were among the 1,200 doses initially allocated to the PNP, with four doses reportedly spoiled.
Some PNP healthcare workers outside Metro Manila also received Sinovac vaccinations through the Department of Health's (DOH) regional allocations.
Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar stated that the second Sinovac dose will be administered 28 days after the first, as advised by health experts.
