Manila begins inoculating senior health workers with AstraZeneca

The city government of Manila has commenced the vaccination of senior healthcare workers aged 60 and above with AstraZeneca vaccines at the Ospital ng Maynila (OM).

Approximately 266 elderly healthcare workers are scheduled to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Mayor Isko Moreno expressed his happiness that the senior front-liners will finally be protected from the virus after a year of uncertainty.

Following the vaccination of senior healthcare workers, other healthcare workers who prefer the AstraZeneca brand will be inoculated.

Concurrently, the second batch of Sinovac vaccines is being administered to other medical front-liners at Sta. Ana Hospital.

Manila received its second shipment of vaccines, comprising 3,000 doses of Sinovac and 1,000 doses of AstraZeneca, from the national government on Monday.

Mayor Domagoso noted that the vaccination rollout in the two hospitals is progressing smoothly due to sufficient simulation exercises.
