PNP records 47 COVID-19 deaths among personnel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded 47 deaths among its personnel due to COVID-19.

The latest fatality is a 40-year-old staff sergeant assigned in Metro Manila who died on Tuesday.

PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas stated that two previous fatalities included a police lieutenant who died of severe pneumonia and a lieutenant colonel who died due to being immuno-compromised with high comorbidity.

The PNP recorded 235 new infections, increasing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 17,637, with 2,391 active cases.

As of Monday night, 15,200 PNP personnel have recovered from the virus, with 272 recoveries reported.

A total of 7,746 police front-liners have been inoculated with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.

This includes 5,955 police officers vaccinated with Sinovac vaccines and 1,791 with AstraZeneca jabs.
