PNP raises P208.1M for families impacted by pandemic

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has raised P208.1 million through its "Bayanihan Fund Challenge" to aid vulnerable families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

This initiative is a project of Chief Police Gen Archie Francisco Gamboa, and was implemented by PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations director Police Major General Benigno Durana Jr.

The funds were collected from voluntary contributions of PNP personnel.

PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac stated that the fundraiser is also known as PNP's "Sariling Alay ng Pulis para sa mahirap" (SAP).

Additionally, the PNP launched the "Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko!" program, encouraging 205,000 personnel to adopt an indigent family by providing food packs, grocery items, or financial assistance.

The "Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko" program has supported over 141,000 poor families, equivalent to P81 million in assistance, which, combined with the Bayanihan Fund Challenge, will augment the government's social amelioration program.
