PRO-9 raises P7.8-M for 'Bayanihan Fund Challenge'
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has successfully raised PHP208.1 million through its voluntary "Bayanihan Fund Challenge," exceeding its PHP200 million target.
This initiative, also known as "Sariling Alay ng Pulis," was spearheaded by PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa to assist Filipinos affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) alone contributed over PHP7.8 million from its 8,039 personnel.
These funds, collected from voluntary contributions, will be remitted to the PNP Director for Comptrollership and eventually turned over to the national government.
PRO-9 detailed its contributions from various police offices within the region, including Zamboanga City Police Office (PHP1,398,000) and Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (PHP1,456,000).
Additionally, PRO-9 has launched an "adopt-a-family" program to further cushion the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on poor families.
