NCRPO, ACG directors relieved over POGO raid probe

The directors of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) have been administratively relieved from their posts for ten days.

This relief is in connection with a controversial raid on a suspected Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) in Manila on October 29.

PNP chief General Rommel Marbil ordered the relief of NCRPO Acting Director Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia and ACG Director Maj. Gen. Ronnie Cariaga to allow for an impartial investigation.

Lt. Gen. Michael John Dubria will lead the investigation committee.

Brig. Gen. Reynaldo Tamondong and Col. Vina Guzman will serve as officers-in-charge of NCRPO and ACG, respectively.

Allegations include extortion and the reported tampering of CCTV cameras by PNP personnel during the operation.

The ACG stated that three operatives moved and covered CCTV cameras in a hallway to prevent them from being seen while walking shirtless due to the extreme heat inside the building.
