PNP forms study group for ECQ, GCQ implementation

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has established a high-level study group to develop policies and regulations for its implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ).

PNP Chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa stated that this initiative aims for better cohesion between frontline and support units to achieve the national government's mission.

Police Lieutenant General Cesar Hawthorne Binag will lead the newly formed study team, which will prepare a memorandum circular detailing police operations and administration measures.

The ECQ is extended in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and other high-risk areas until May 15.

The group will also draft PNP courses of action for areas transitioning to the "new normal" under GCQ.

President Rodrigo Duterte announced the extension of the ECQ in several regions and provinces to stop the spread of COVID-19.
