PNP almost done with contact tracing of co-passengers of nCoV-positive Chinese tourists
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is almost done tracing 193 passengers who shared domestic flights with Chinese tourists.
As of Friday morning, police have reached out to 91 passengers from a January 21 Cebu Pacific flight (Cebu to Dumaguete) and a January 25 Philippine Airlines flight (Dumaguete to Manila).
Initially, six Filipino passengers from these flights showed signs and symptoms of respiratory diseases, but one has been cleared after it was determined they had a history of asthma.
The CIDG is coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) in monitoring passengers and has requested assistance from the Bureau of Immigration to contact those who are unresponsive.
The CIDG was tasked with tracing passengers of local flights, while the DOH handles those on international flights.
The PNP aims to complete the tracing within the 48-hour period given starting Wednesday.
