Authorities have been unable to contact dozens of passengers who shared flights with two Chinese nationals confirmed to have the novel coronavirus in the Philippines.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was tasked with tracing 193 passengers from two specific flights taken on January 21.
As of Monday, the CIDG has managed to contact 102 of the passengers on these flights.
Some passengers who could not be reached directly have been contacted via text message, with some responding to inquiries.
However, a significant number remain unreachable, with police suspecting incorrect contact numbers or being out of reach.
The flights in question were Cebu Pacific's Cebu to Dumaguete flight (DG 6519) and Philippine Airlines' Dumaguete to Manila flight (PR 2542).
Three of the contacted passengers are now under quarantine by the Department of Health due to flu-like symptoms.
The CIDG has enlisted the Anti-Cybercrime Group to aid in their contact tracing efforts.
