Philippines logs 2,249 new COVID-19 cases, total now 336,926

The Philippines' COVID-19 tally reached 336,926 on Saturday, October 10, with the Department of Health (DOH) reporting 2,249 new infections.

This marks the sixth consecutive day with fewer than 3,000 new cases.

The death toll climbed to 6,238 with 87 new fatalities, while total recoveries increased to 276,094.

The National Capital Region reported the highest number of new cases with 651, followed by Batangas, Iloilo, Laguna, and Quezon.

Of the active cases, 85.8 percent are mild, 10 percent asymptomatic, 1.3 percent severe, and 2.9 percent critical.

Currently, 48 percent of COVID-19 intensive care unit beds are occupied and 23 percent of mechanical ventilators are in use.
