Philippines logs 11,085 new COVID-19 cases, 161 deaths

As of Wednesday, August 18, 2021, the Philippines has recorded 1,640,721 recoveries from COVID-19, with 11,628 new recoveries reported.

The total number of confirmed infections has reached 1,776,495, with a recovery rate of 92.4%.

The DOH reported 11,085 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 105,151.

Of the active cases, 96% are mild, 1.0% are asymptomatic, 1.3% are severe, 0.91% are moderate, and 0.7% are in critical condition.

The country's death toll from COVID-19 rose to 30,623 with 161 new fatalities reported.

Adjustments to the case counts included the removal of 265 duplicates, with 259 of those reclassified as recoveries.

Additionally, 74 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

On August 16, the positivity rate for COVID-19 tests was 23.4% out of 46,644 individuals tested.
