Philippines COVID-19 cases reach 1.47 million

The Philippines' tally of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases rose to 1,467,119 on Saturday, July 10, after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,675 new infections.

The number of active cases in the country slightly decreased to 49,968.

Of the active cases, 89% were mild, 5.4% were asymptomatic, 2.4% were severe, and 1.5% were in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed to 1,391,335 after 7,552 more patients recovered from the illness.

The death toll rose to 25,816 with 96 new fatalities.

Eleven duplicate cases were removed from the total case count, and one case was found to be negative.

Moreover, 42 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Nationwide, 55% of intensive care unit beds are in use, while 34% of mechanical ventilators are occupied.

In the National Capital Region, 40% of the ICU beds are being utilized by patients while 29% of the mechanical ventilators are in use.
