PH prepares 165,756 beds in quarantine facilities nationwide

As of Sunday, April 12, 2020, the Philippines has a total of 2,673 quarantine facilities nationwide with a cumulative bed capacity of 165,756 for suspected and probable COVID-19 cases.

Seven government-owned venues, including the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, have been converted into quarantine facilities in Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Tarlac.

These initial seven facilities offer 1,500 beds and are intended for patients with asymptomatic or mild COVID-19 symptoms.

Six of these seven quarantine sites were completed in one week with assistance from the national government and private companies.

The Ninoy Aquino Stadium can accommodate 112 patients and will begin operating on Monday.

Six other massive quarantine facilities are expected to become operational this week, capable of accepting over 2,000 COVID-19 patients.

In the following weeks, an additional nine quarantine facilities will also begin accepting patients.

This initiative aims to ease the strain on hospitals overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases.
