PH logs 6,879 new COVID-19 cases; Metro Manila to have ECQ

The Philippines recorded 6,879 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, August 3, bringing the nation's total tally to 1,612,541.

Active cases rose to 63,137, with 94% mild, 1.3% asymptomatic, 2.1% severe, and 1.2% critical.

The country's recovery count increased to 1,521,263 after 6,337 more patients recovered.

The death toll climbed to 28,141 with 48 new fatalities.

The DOH clarified that 100 duplicates were removed, 12 recoveries were reclassified as active cases, and 18 recoveries were tagged as deaths.

Sixty-two percent of the country's ICU beds are utilized, while 41% of mechanical ventilators are in use.

Metro Manila is set to be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20, to combat the spread of the Delta variant.
