PH logs 6,637 new COVID-19 cases, over 1.3M total

The Philippines logged 6,637 new COVID-19 infections on June 17, 2021, bringing the total number of cases to 1,339,457.

This is the eighth consecutive day that the country has reported over 5,000 new cases.

Active cases increased to 58,407, with 91.8% being mild, 3.8% asymptomatic, 1.8% severe, and 1.3% critical.

Total recoveries reached 1,257,774 with 4,585 new recoveries, while the death toll climbed to 23,276 with 155 new fatalities.

Twelve duplicate cases were removed, and 235 recoveries were reclassified as active cases, while 107 recoveries were reclassified as deaths.

Nationwide, 57% of ICU beds and 36% of mechanical ventilators are in use.

In the NCR, 46% of ICU beds and 31% of mechanical ventilators are occupied.

Additionally, 1.5 million more doses of Sinovac vaccine arrived in the country.
