PH logs 1,392 new COVID-19 cases; recoveries reach 387,266

The Philippines recorded 328 new COVID-19 recoveries on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries nationwide to 387,266.

The Department of Health (DOH) also announced 1,392 new confirmed cases and 27 new deaths, increasing the total active cases to 28,789 and the death toll to 8,242.

Of the active cases, about 84 percent are mild, 8.3 percent are asymptomatic, 2.6 percent are severe, 0.26 percent are moderate, and 4.9 percent are in critical condition.

Caloocan City topped the list of areas where new COVID-19 cases were logged with 77 infections, followed by Cavite with 73, Laguna with 73, Davao City with 62, and Quezon City with 60 cases.

As of Thursday, the DOH reported that it has 21,300 total bed capacity dedicated to COVID-19 patients.

Available are about 57 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 61 percent of 13,500 isolation beds; and 70 percent of 5,900 ward beds.

About 81 percent of 2,000 ventilators are available for patients' use.
