PH COVID-19 cases top 432k with 1,298 new infections

The Philippines' COVID-19 tally reached 432,925 with the addition of 1,298 new cases reported on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Total recoveries rose to 398,782 after 135 more patients recovered, while the death toll climbed to 8,418 with 27 new fatalities.

Nine cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths, and one case previously reported as death has been validated as an active case.

There are 25,725 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Ilocos Norte recorded the highest number of new cases on Tuesday, followed by Manila City, Quezon province, Laguna, and Negros Occidental.

President Rodrigo Duterte extended the general community quarantine status of Metro Manila, Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan, and Davao City until yearend to avoid a holiday surge.

Despite the extended GCQ, restrictions were loosened to allow minors accompanied by parents to go to malls.
