PGH ICU at 95% occupancy, can no longer accept severe COVID-19 cases

The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) is currently at 95% occupancy with its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) almost fully occupied.

PGH spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario stated that they could no longer accept severe or critical COVID-19 cases from other hospitals.

He explained that the hospital needs to reserve two to three beds for their own patients who might need intensive care.

With at least 172 COVID-19 patients admitted, PGH still has a few beds available in the regular wards.

However, they must carefully screen patients for coordinated transfers to ensure proper allocation.

Despite the ICU capacity issues, Dr. del Rosario confirmed that PGH has enough healthcare workers for COVID-19 patients.

This situation mirrors reports from other Metro Manila hospitals that have also reached 100% utilization of their COVID-19 ICU beds.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque assured that Metro Manila possesses sufficient facilities for COVID-19 patients.
