Petro Gazz defeats Chery Tiggo, takes solo lead in PVL semis

Petro Gazz staged a comeback victory against Chery Tiggo in four sets (20-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-16) to gain the solo lead in the PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

Brooke Van Sickle led Petro Gazz with 21 points and was instrumental in their win, contributing 18 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, alongside 18 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions.

Seasoned hitter Aiza Maizo-Pontillas supported Van Sickle with 18 points from 15 attacks and three blocks, while MJ Phillips made an immediate impact with 16 points.

Jonah Sabete delivered 13 points and 18 excellent digs, while Remy Palma chipped in 10 points.

Playmaker Djanel Cheng facilitated the offense with 18 excellent sets and scored four points from blocks.

Coach Koji Tsuzurabara acknowledged the tough competition, noting the Angels' win ended Chery Tiggo's seven-game winning streak.

Despite an injury to her pinky finger, Eya Laure scored 15 points for Chery Tiggo, who had only one other player in double digits with Ara Galang's 10 points.
