The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will conduct maritime domain awareness (MDA) flights in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) to assert the country's territorial rights and monitor activities within its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
These routine flights, planned from Pangasinan to Zambales, aim to reaffirm the Philippines' EEZ.
The announcement follows a recent incident where a Chinese military helicopter conducted dangerous maneuvers over Bajo de Masinloc.
The PCG is also tracking Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels, including CCG 5303, which was sighted 80 nautical miles off Bolinao, Pangasinan.
CCG vessels 3301 and 3105 have also been spotted off Zambales.
The PCG spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela stated that PCG vessels will be deployed to directly challenge and counter the presence of any detected CCG ships.
