PBBM dismisses resignation calls, explains 'reset'

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. dismissed calls for his resignation, stating it is not his style to run away from problems and questioning why he would resign.

His statement followed his order for his Cabinet members and heads of agencies to submit courtesy resignations as part of a government "reset" to address underperforming officials.

Former Duterte Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and ex-Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, along with former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez, have publicly called for Marcos Jr.'s resignation, with Roque and Rodriguez suggesting the President himself is the root of the problem.

President Marcos confirmed he did not accept the resignation of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, and he has retained his economic team.

Malacañang indicated that Cabinet secretaries who submitted their courtesy resignations must demonstrate their worth to remain in their positions.

President Marcos emphasized that the performance review process for these officials will be rigorous and involve looking into the reasons behind any shortfalls.
