Pangasinan gov places province under community quarantine amid COVID-19 fears

Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III placed the entire province under community quarantine from March 16 to April 12, 2020.

As of Wednesday, March 18, Pangasinan remains free of COVID-19, but the number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) has increased to 32,358.

Of the total PUMs, 534 have completed their quarantine period.

The province still has 22 persons under investigation (PUIs), with 17 hospitalized and five discharged.

Nine PUIs are currently confined at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC).

Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia, R1MC Medical Director, urged the public to remain calm and comply with home quarantine measures, emphasizing the importance of a strong immune system, social distancing, and cleanliness of frequently touched surfaces.

The R1MC is prepared to accommodate potential COVID-19 patients with available facilities and isolation rooms.
