Palace asks agencies to review 2026 budgets for insertions

Malacañang has urged all government agencies to review their proposed budgets for 2026 to identify and remove any anomalous insertions.

This directive follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s order for the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon to conduct a thorough review of the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) 2026 budget proposal.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that it is beneficial for agencies to scrutinize their submissions, as unexpected items might have been included.

Castro acknowledged the House of Representatives' recommendation to return the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP) to the DBM due to allocation concerns, stating that it's positive that potential irregularities have been flagged early.

She emphasized that any revisions to the proposed budget must be formally submitted through errata, as returning the NEP to the DBM is not legally permissible.
