Palace may review other agencies' budgets amid DPWH budget row

Malacañang has indicated that the review of the proposed 2026 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) may extend to other government agencies.

This directive follows President Marcos Jr.'s order for the DPWH and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to review the DPWH's proposed budget, amidst controversies surrounding flood control projects and alleged insertions.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro stated that if similar questions arise regarding other agencies, the President will issue the same order.

Castro also suggested that it would be more effective for Congress members to present their findings on questionable budget allocations directly to the President.

This approach would allow for a more informed judgment, as public statements without specific details can make it difficult to assess the situation accurately.

The Palace's statement comes after House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno raised concerns about potentially questionable allocations in other departments.
