PAL flight carrying 299 OFWs lands in Subic

A Philippine Airlines flight carrying 299 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Saudi Arabia landed at the Subic Bay International Airport (SBIA) on Wednesday, marking the first passenger flight arrival at the airport since 2011.

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Wilma T. Eisma stated that this flight signifies Subic's role as an alternate entry point for returning OFWs.

The arrival of this PAL flight is the first commercial passenger flight to land in Subic in over a decade, with the last one being an Astro Air flight in 2011.

Senator Richard Gordon had previously proposed opening Subic, Clark, and Mactan airports to accommodate returning migrant workers displaced by the pandemic.

Eisma expressed hope that this successful repatriation flight will pave the way for regular passenger flights at the Subic airport.
