PAGASA to declare warm, dry season soon

The Philippines is expected to transition to the warm and dry season by the end of March or early April.

PAGASA Administrator Nathaniel Servando stated that the official declaration is pending due to the lingering effects of the "amihan" or northeast monsoon over Luzon.

Servando mentioned that the amihan is expected to weaken by next week, signaling the start of the warm season.

He noted that the state weather bureau cannot declare the start of the dry season yet because of the prevalence of the amihan, which still brings cloudy and cool mornings.

Historically, the warm and dry season has sometimes been declared as late as April, with specific instances recorded in 2017 and 2018.

PAGASA Climate Monitoring and Prediction Section Chief Ana Liza Solis added that recent cloudiness brings "warm and humid" weather, contrasting with the clear skies typical of the hot and dry season.
