ITCZ, easterlies to bring rains and hot weather across PH

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and easterlies will be the dominant weather systems affecting the Philippines over the next 24 hours.

Northeast monsoon, or "amihan," has weakened and no longer affects the country.

Most of the country, except for parts of Mindanao, will experience hot and humid conditions due to the easterlies, with more frequent isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao due to the ITCZ.

PAGASA warned of the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in areas affected by the ITCZ.

The shift to the warm and dry season could be officially declared before the end of March or early April.

PAGASA forecasts a heat index reaching up to 43°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and 42°C in CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur, on Tuesday.
