The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has expanded its distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical supplies to include health workers in Quezon and Bicol, beyond the previously announced areas of Batangas and Tarlac.
As of Sunday, a total of 17,100 PPE sets have been distributed by the OVP to health care workers and frontliners battling the COVID-19, an increase from the previously reported 15,000 sets.
The OVP's fund drive for PPE has reached more than P23 million, intended for purchasing more PPE sets and other needs for COVID-19 frontliners.
These efforts are in addition to PPE sets previously distributed to ten hospitals within Manila and to Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery and Ospital ng Capas in Tarlac.
The OVP also donated P5.3 million worth of extraction kits to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for COVID-19 testing.
Several logistics companies, including Transportify, Ninjavan, RAF Forwarding, and the LBC Express Inc. foundation, assisted in the delivery of these essential supplies.
The OVP has also distributed food packs and provided shuttle service to health care workers affected by the suspension of mass transport.
