OCTA: NCR COVID-19 reproduction rate down to 0.47

The OCTA Research group reported that the COVID-19 reproduction rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) has decreased to 0.47, and the nationwide rate to 0.55, indicating a slowdown in virus transmission.

This continued decrease in reproduction numbers suggests that COVID-19 cases in the Philippines are expected to fall back to pre-Delta surge levels by the end of October.

The current nationwide seven-day average of COVID-19 cases is 6,416, with 1,156 in the NCR, marking the lowest nationwide average since July.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David projected that the country could see fewer than 5,000 new cases (7-day average) by the end of October, with less than 1,000 in the NCR.

This projection aligns with the Department of Health's report of 3,656 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the lowest daily count since July 13.
