Negros Occidental to give P13M aid to Odette victims

The provincial government of Negros Occidental will release an initial PHP13 million financial assistance to families whose houses were totally destroyed by Typhoon Odette.

Each beneficiary is set to receive PHP5,000, with the release of funds scheduled for the coming week.

This aid was requested by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson from the province's unutilized disaster risk reduction and management fund.

The province has also allocated PHP50 million to procure construction materials, such as G.I. sheets, which will be distributed alongside food and financial aid.

Negros Occidental previously received PHP41 million from the Bureau of the Treasury and is awaiting guidelines for its disbursement.

Additionally, the province is completing documents for the PHP90 million cash aid from the National Housing Authority.

Typhoon Odette damaged 190,868 houses partially and destroyed 65,871 houses completely in Negros Occidental.
