DILG to give P1,000 cash aid per person to Odette victims

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will distribute cash aid to families affected by Typhoon Odette, with each individual receiving P1,000 and a maximum of P5,000 per family.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año stated that the intended beneficiaries are low-income families and those severely impacted by the typhoon.

Local government units (LGUs) have been instructed to post lists of eligible recipients to ensure qualified beneficiaries receive the aid.

LGUs are given 15 days to complete the payout and must establish a grievance and appeals committee to address any complaints.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) may be tapped to assist in the orderly distribution of aid if necessary.

The P4.8 billion fund for the cash assistance has been released to the LGUs, who are currently being guided by the DILG on efficient payout procedures.
