NDRRMC warns residents as Ulysses approaches

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is urging residents in the projected path of Tropical Depression Ulysses to take necessary precautions.

NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal emphasized the importance of vigilance, especially for those living in flood-prone, landslide-prone, lahar-prone, and storm surge-vulnerable areas, due to the expected heavy rains and strong winds.

Residents currently in evacuation centers from the previous Super Typhoon Rolly are advised to extend their stay for safety.

The NDRRMC also assured the public that they will continue to distribute family food packs to affected residents.

Mark Timbal mentioned that air transport operations might be temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of personnel once the typhoon arrives.

The state weather bureau PAGASA forecasts that Ulysses could intensify into a typhoon before potentially making landfall in the Bicol Region and Quezon province on Wednesday.

No tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) has been raised yet, but PAGASA noted that TCWS No. 1 may be raised over the provinces in the Bicol Region or Eastern Visayas beginning Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

The tail-end of a cold front will bring moderate to heavy rains with at times intense rains over Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, and Aurora.
