NCR sees rise in granular lockdowns to 46 areas

As of Friday, November 5, 2021, the number of areas under granular lockdown in the National Capital Region has increased to 46, according to the Philippine National Police.

This affects at least 864 people, a slight increase from previous figures.

Nationwide, over 31,000 individuals were affected by granular lockdowns as of Monday, November 1, 2021.

A total of 432 areas are currently under granular lockdown nationwide, impacting 7,232 households across 283 barangays.

Local government units have the authority to impose or lift these granular lockdowns, which are micro-level quarantine measures for "critical zones" identified by LGUs.

Officials state that granular lockdowns can be implemented on a house, compound, street, or building with high cases of coronavirus infection.

Granular lockdowns, along with the alert level system and vaccination efforts, are considered successful in controlling the spread of COVID-19 by Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año.
