New COVID-19 cases in NCR seen to reach 12K on Friday —OCTA
The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a new high of 11,630 COVID-19 cases on Thursday and may reach 12,000 on Friday, according to OCTA Research.
OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David stated that the steep increase in NCR cases on Thursday broke the previous record from September 11, 2021.
The daily positive rate in the NCR increased to 46.3%, with the 7-day average rising to 38%, both considered critical levels.
The reproduction number in the NCR was 5.69, indicating a high transmission rate.
OCTA projects the NCR to report between 11,000 to 13,000 new cases on Friday, and the entire country to see 17,000 to 19,000 cases.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 17,220 new COVID-19 cases nationwide, bringing the total tally to 2,888,917.
The country's active cases have reached 56,561, with the majority being mild or asymptomatic.
