DOH reports 21,819 new Covid-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 21,819 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, January 7, 2022, an increase from the 17,220 cases reported the previous day.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections to 2,910,664, with active cases rising to 77,369.

Of the active cases, the majority have mild symptoms, with 70,321 cases.

The DOH also logged 973 new recoveries, increasing the total to 2,781,424, or 95.6 percent of all cases.

The National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest number of infections at 13,634 or 63 percent of new cases in the past two weeks, followed by Region 4A and Region 3.

The death toll has reached 51,871 with 129 new deaths reported.

Healthcare utilization rates remain relatively low, with ICU beds at 32 percent occupancy.
